Runes and artifacts

The two systems that sit outside the shop. One you choose before pressing play, one you find while playing, and they are easy to mix up. Everything here is off the Ecliptica wiki's Artifacts and Runes pages.

Runes

chosen in the lobby, before the run
  1. Finishing a full run unlocks one rune at random. You cannot pick which.
  2. Equip up to four at the Workshop Anvil in the lobby.
  3. Each slot is asleep until its phase arrives, and grows stronger every phase after.
  4. Every rune you equip rolls a random curse. You do not choose it, and the same one can land twice.

Artifacts

found during the run, one a stage
  1. Each floor asks for one before it will let you fight the boss. It is an objective, not a drop.
  2. Carry it to the dimensional teleporter to bank it.
  3. The bonus goes to the whole party, so what you end up with depends on what everyone carried.
  4. Which artifacts the party holds decides which map comes next.

These do count in the planner now. The stat block adds your artifacts, and your runes worked out at a phase you choose, because a rune has no single value: it is worth five times as much in slot 1 at the end of a run as it is on the phase it wakes up in. The panel names the phase it used, and follows the real one while a run is being watched. Curses are not counted and cannot be — you do not choose the one you get — so every rune figure is a figure before curses.
